- ➤ Dove Creek Equine Rescue in Randall County is preparing extra food and forage for horses as extreme cold is expected to hit Thursday night to Monday. Staff and volunteers emphasize providing food + shelter for the animals, with temperatures returning to normal on Tuesday. ABC 7 Amarillo

- ➤ West Texas A&M University opened the remodeled Geneva Schaeffer Education Building on Jan. 22, which now houses the graduate school, education on demand services, research and compliance services, and digital learning technologies (the $40 million remodel was funded since Oct. 2021 with a significant family gift). - ➤ The Taco Bell Foundation awarded a $43,000 grant to Junior Achievement (High Plains) in Amarillo on Thursday to boost financial education for high school students from low and moderate-income families in the Panhandle. NewsChannel 10

- ➤ TxDOT is preparing snowplows to clear Panhandle roadways this weekend as hazardous winter weather is expected; crews will work 8 to 12 hour shifts and advise drivers to keep 200 feet away (for safety). NewsChannel 10
- ➤ The Fifth Circuit Court dismissed Spectrum WT’s appeal filed Tuesday against West Texas A&M’s decision to cancel planned drag shows on campus, upholding the earlier ruling that permits the university to enforce event standards when minors are present. Amarillo Tribune
