- ➤ The Amarillo Fire Department fought a room-and-contents fire at 8111 S. Soncy Road on Sunday evening (7:09-7:49 p.m.) with firefighters suppressing flames and reporting no injuries while the fire marshal investigates the cause. ABC 7 Amarillo
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Francesca’s store at Westgate Mall is closing permanently per a federal notice (filed the week of Jan. 23) as more shoppers turn to online buying; remaining stores include Dillard’s and JCPenney. NewsTalk 940 AM

- ➤ John Ford Coley, joining Three Dog Night and Ambrosia, will perform live at the Amarillo Civic Center Auditorium at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19. The veteran says the event celebrates classic hits + honors his Texan roots. Amarillo Globe-News

- ➤ Wildfires burned across the Texas Panhandle on Tuesday as high winds spread flames near Highway 64 east of Beaver, four miles east of Hartley, and near Hooker — fire crews slowed the blaze by closing parts of affected roads while news outlets seek more details. ABC 7 Amarillo
- ➤ Ogallala Life and Ogallala Commons are launching a new rehydration project in Borger at Rock Creek in Johnson Park from Mar. 7-14. The nonprofits, who previously led projects around Amarillo, will use leaky weirs and beaver dam analogs to help recharge the Ogallala Aquifer. Amarillo Tribune

- ➤ Traffic on Georgia Street will be temporarily adjusted starting Feb. 19 as crews close the portion from SL 335 to just south of Daytona Ave for concrete paving in a 1.5-mile project designed to increase roadway capacity and drainage+ detour signage is in place until May 31. NewsChannel 10
- ➤ Xcel Energy has enacted a Public Safety Power Shutoff for about 14,500 customers across several local counties starting at 9 a.m., with over 400 workers + helicopters set to inspect lines and begin restoration at 5 p.m.; outages may continue into Wednesday. NewsChannel 10
