  • The Texas Panhandle Builders Association Home and Garden Show returns this weekend at Rex Baxter Building (3301 S.E. 10th Ave).   • WWII veteran Charles Elliott will celebrate his 100th birthday on Wednesday, March 4 as Amarillo residents send birthday cards to honor his service. The Veterans Land Board launched the 100 for 100 program — requesting 100 cards to support the decorated veteran at the Texas State Veterans Home.  96.9 KISS FM

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Bivins Elementary won its third consecutive Black History Bowl championship at the Maverick Boys + Girls Club event held this week, where about 650 students studied 300 Black history questions before competing with three other schools to celebrate cultural heritage.  NewsChannel 10
  • Amarillo ISD will launch new virtual learning options for grades 6 to 12 in the school year 2027 to 28 to meet rising demand for flexible scheduling; the district received a $226,000 TEA grant to support accelerated & hybrid pathways and ensure quality instruction with accountability measures.  Amarillo Globe-News
  • Amarillo private schools are facing high demand as hundreds of parents apply for limited spots through the new Texas Education Freedom Account program for the coming school year.
