- ➤ Meals on Wheels of Amarillo announced its annual Geranium Sale, accepting orders until March 27 with pickup on May 9. - ➤ Tickets are on sale for The Bridge’s fundraiser on March 24 at Embassy Suites by Hilton Amarillo Downtown, with $200 main event tickets and $50 VIP tickets that include a photo with Hall of Fame catcher Ivan + live auctions and food to benefit child services for Texas Panhandle kids. - ➤ Local relief groups including the Red Cross and 2-1-1 helped wildfire victims from the recent Lavender and 8 Ball fires by providing shelter, food and clothing today. - ➤ The Amarillo branch of the NAACP will hold its second town hall meeting on education issues on Thursday, Mar. 12 at St. John Baptist Church, with Rev. Anthony Harris presenting on population issues, district transfers, enrollment challenges and school consolidation. - ➤ Texas Mutual awarded a $100,000 grant to Amarillo College to support its ongoing Safety and Environmental Technology Program; the check was presented on Tuesday, March 3 at Innovation Outpost on the campus — marking the 11th consecutive year of support. Amarillo Globe-News
- ➤ Amarillo High School 10th-grader Alessandro Dieguez was named one of 15 statewide winners for the Butler Texas Young Masters program for musical theater, receiving $5,000 a year over two years and will be recognized on April 13 at ZACH Theatre in Austin. NewsChannel 10
