- ➤ Nursing students at West Texas A&M University recently participated in a poverty simulation to experience the financial challenges many patients face when covering bills, groceries & health care. - ➤ Amarillo students are joining the Sod Poodles' Reading With RUCKUS program, where over 21,000 kids from 65 schools read grade-level books for prizes such as food tokens and baseball tickets + free bookmarks. - ➤ FirstBank Southwest distributed a record $72,059.50 to area schools through its School Spirit Debit Card Program during the 2025 program year. - ➤ The Thomas E. Creek VA Medical Center in Amarillo will receive several million dollars in federal funding from a $4.8 billion nationwide investment.
