  • Officials found a man dead after a structure fire at 212 Sagebrush on Wednesday afternoon in Potter County — authorities secured the scene, notified the family, and stated the fire's cause remains undetermined.  ABC 7 Amarillo

  • Martha Garcia runs a food truck that serves mini pancakes with creative toppings throughout Amarillo. She started Martha’s Minis four years ago with family help plus strong local support and plans to add another truck to meet growing demand.  Amarillo Globe-News

CRIME NEWS

  • The Amarillo Police Department recovered a record 164 stolen vehicles in 2024 — using new license plate readers that were first installed in 2022 and expanded in 2023 to track 665 incidents and achieve 243 arrests.  NewsChannel 10
  • Amarillo police say Ronald Ernest Miles is in custody as a person of interest in the death of 65-year-old Elizabeth Ann Duckworth, whose body was found wrapped in plastic in an alley near Center and Alabama — an autopsy is ordered.  NewsChannel 10

  • The Amarillo Civic Center will host The Materialistic Movement this Saturday from noon to 6 p.m.—over 65 vendors will offer sneakers, streetwear, vintage clothes and collectibles. The Perez brothers, running the event for a second year, plan to open a new storefront soon.  Amarillo Globe-News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Texas A&M Forest Service crews are preparing as strong winds will raise fire risk on Friday—teams with heavy equipment and local fire groups are being set up in areas including Amarillo, Lubbock, and Childress. Responders ask residents to avoid outdoor burning, secure loose items, and pay close attention to any evacuation notices.  NewsChannel 10
  • The City of Amarillo posted a report with water quality data for the Osage Water Treatment facility. The report shows that fluoride, chloride and lead levels meet state and federal standards—earning the system a Superior Rating from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality in 2023.  KGNC
