- ➤ Officials from Roberts County Emergency Services District One say a grass fire is burning on the east side of Highway 70 near North River Road and several fire departments are working to contain it—drivers are urged to avoid the area. NewsChannel 10

- ➤ Amarillo police say that U.S. Marshals arrested Merron Bailey— a 20-year-old from Dallas— on a murder warrant in connection to the Aug 31 after party shooting that killed Felita Bailey; investigators continue gathering evidence. Amarillo Globe-News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ More than 4,000 customers in Vega — Canyon — Amarillo — Hereford — and Wildorado lost power on Friday, March 14th as high winds picked up across the Panhandle. NewsChannel 10
- ➤ High winds with gusts up to 80 mph started Friday and left more than 65,000 Xcel Energy customers without power in the Texas Panhandle, South Plains, and New Mexico — crews said damage to power lines was widespread. Crews are working through the weekend to inspect and repair 2,500 miles of lines — power may take several days to be restored. Amarillo Globe-News
- ➤ Wildfires are burning across the Texas Panhandle due to high winds that drive them rapidly. The Windmill Fire in northern Roberts County has burned 8,000 acres without containment while the Rest Area Fire near I-40 in Gray County has burned 1,000 acres, leading to evacuations in Alanreed and highway closures.
