- ➤ Hundreds of local Boy Scouts will go door-to-door in Amarillo on Saturday to collect food donations for the High Plains Food Bank during the annual Scouting for Food drive. - ➤ Amarillo candidates met Thursday night in a forum to share their ideas for local positions, with more than 200 residents in attendance and two candidates—mayoral candidate Luke Marek and city council candidate Wendy Flores—not present. - ➤ Two Amarillo parks—John Ward Memorial Park and Memorial Park on Washington Street—were vandalized recently when red spray paint defaced a new fishing dock and graffiti damaged a gazebo between March 8 and March 10 causing nearly $2000 in damage before cleanup, and police are seeking tips as the Parks and Recreation Department continues to combat recurring vandalism. - ➤ A recent study shows that chain restaurant prices have increased 42% since 2020 because supply problems, higher operating costs, the pandemic and the war in Ukraine drove costs up. - ➤ Amarillo College's East Campus hosted its Women in Industry event on Wednesday to showcase opportunities for women in trades like welding, machining and construction.
