- ➤ Panhandle PBS will host a free preview screening and panel discussion as part of the Mary E. Foundation’s Senior Food Insecurity Forum on March 27 from 6:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center’s Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy in Amarillo—where the screening will preview the three-part series Broken Bread that examines food insecurity among seniors and will air on April 3, 10 and 17 at 7 p.m. with Sunday rebroadcasts beginning April 6. - ➤ Three men were federally indicted for a cockfighting operation in Amarillo held on Feb. 10th at a building on La Ruth Street—after being arrested on March 19th, they now face charges of conspiracy and illegal animal fighting. Amarillo Globe-News

- ➤ West Texas A&M University will open a guest exhibit called 'A Mountain of My Making' featuring work by four Mexican artists from Mexico City tomorrow at the Dord Fitz Formal Gallery in Mary Moody Northen Hall. The exhibit will run until May 3 and includes art reflecting changes brought by the COVID—19 pandemic with an opening reception at 5:00 p.m. NewsChannel 10

- ➤ TTUHSC School of Medicine students celebrated Match Day Friday at Hodgetown — opening envelopes that revealed their residency placements in competitive specialties and primary care, with many choosing to remain in Texas. Dr. Brian Weis said the event marked a turning point in their careers after years of hard study and training. Amarillo Globe-News
- ➤ The new LifeWise Academy chapter began offering Bible lessons during lunch breaks for elementary students in Amarillo with classes at Forest Hill and South Lawn—volunteers walk students from school to local church spaces and provide sack lunches while teaching Bible-based character lessons. The Academy is accepting more students and is planning to expand its programs to additional local schools in the near future. Amarillo Tribune

- ➤ Potter County imposed a burn ban for 90 days starting March 24, 2025—covering all unincorporated areas in Amarillo to reduce wildfire risk. The ban will last until June 22 and may be lifted if conditions improve. 96.9 KISS FM
- ➤ Residents in Amarillo are urged to prepare for tornado season as May may bring severe storms with an average of about 42 tornadoes (the most dangerous time of the season) while recent rough weather has raised concerns. Families are encouraged to inspect storm shelters (if available) and develop a safety plan before severe weather strikes. NewsTalk 940 AM
