ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Pampa Police, Fire and EMS responded Tuesday at 6:32 p.m. to an accident at the intersection of 21st Street and Williston where 43-year-old Ryan King died and his passenger Dawn King suffered life-threatening injuries while a 15-year-old SUV driver was arrested on a manslaughter charge—investigation remains ongoing.  KGNC
  • A truck crash on Monday at 6:30 p.m. on US 54 near Stratford killed truck driver Mark Baucom — 63 from Missouri — after his semi veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with another truck that seriously injured Andrew Conley, 36 from Alabama, who was taken to hospital.  NewsChannel 10
  • A head-on collision between two 18-wheelers on US 54 southwest of Stratford at around 6:30 p.m. Monday left one man dead and another seriously injured when driver Mark Baucom (63) veered into oncoming traffic and Andrew Conley (36) was airlifted to Northwest Texas Hospital.  ABC 7 Amarillo

  • Amarillo Skate Plex (9721 Coulter Street) announced it will host homeschooling skating specials on the first and third Friday of each month from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. for $6 including skate rental, offering an affordable field trip for homeschooled students.  96.9 KISS FM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Cpl Herr was a guest on NewsDay Amarillo with Tim Butler yesterday to talk about upcoming recruitment for APD testing and academy—he said the department will hire new officers soon—as it plans to boost its force.  KGNC
  • Potter County commissioners approved a 90 day burn ban for unincorporated areas on Monday due to persistent hot—dry and windy weather that created a public hazard; Potter County Fire and Rescue responded to wildfires and warned the risk would grow without significant rain.  KGNC
  • State Rep. John Smithee filed HB 5554 on March 14 to give the Texas Historical Commission control of the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum in Canyon — the museum closed Monday due to fire safety concerns. If passed, the bill will let the Commission work with West Texas A&M for repairs and renovations estimated to cost $100.  ABC 7 Amarillo
