- ➤ The Teachers on the Rise program honored three Amarillo ISD educators, Jessica Hernandez, Ronnie Hamilton and Abbie Chapmond, with gift cards from United and Amazon and a basket of goodies. Students who nominate a teacher earn a $50 American Express card. Amarillo Globe-News

- ➤ On Thursday, March 26, a fire on FM 687 in Hutchinson County forced road closures and temporary evacuations near Charles Hart Lane as firefighters worked to contain the 10-acre Big Creek blaze; a separate fire in Ochiltree County was already 65% contained. Amarillo Globe-News
- ➤ Record heat pushed Amarillo’s temperatures near 100 degrees on Thursday amid dry conditions that sparked red flag warnings and fire concerns. - ➤ On Thursday, the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation board voted to offer Dr. Andreas Eckstein the president and CEO role (his appointment includes a starting salary of $220,000, performance bonuses, and benefits, and he is set to begin around May 11). Amarillo Tribune
- ➤ The Amarillo City Council approved a $470,000 contract for asbestos abatement and demolition of the 1929 terminal despite preservation concerns. Ron Fernuik from the Texas Air and Space Museum said the structurally sound building holds important ties to local servicemen—private investment might offer an alternative to demolition.
