- ➤ The Barrio Neighborhood Planning Committee is beginning construction on the other side of 10th St. as part of its Streetscape Project, selling brick pavers for neighbors to personalize the sidewalk and La Plazita Park; the work will add trees, a wide bike lane from Garfield to Ross, benches at bus stops, and matching trash cans—construction is expected to finish by July depending on the weather. - ➤ The Bridge Children’s Advocacy Center will host a pinwheel ceremony Tuesday, April 1 at 11 a.m. at 804 Quail Creek Drive to mark Child Abuse Prevention month and honor 965 children who shared their abuse stories in 2024—community members are asked to wear blue. NewsChannel 10
- ➤ The Bridge Children’s Advocacy Center invites community members to honor children who shared abuse stories in 2024 with pinwheel ceremonies across the Panhandle. The ceremonies will be held on March 31 in Hereford at 10 a.m. for 52 children and in Pampa at 3 p.m. for 96 children—on April 1 in Amarillo at 11 a.m. for 965 children and in Borger at 3:30 p.m. for 34 children—and on April 2 in Dumas at 10 a.m. for 76 children, with attendees encouraged to wear blue. - ➤ The Amarillo Museum of Art’s annual 20x20 exhibition started Friday and will run until April 3 to support its education programs—about 120 art pieces not larger than 20 inches by 20 inches are on display. - ➤ The final day to register to vote or update your registration for the joint general election is Thursday, April 3, and six local entities will conduct the polls. Early voting will take place April 22-25 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and April 28-29 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at multiple sites before the election on May 3. NewsChannel 10
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Texas has reported 400 measles cases with 73 added since Tuesday and the 7th case confirmed in Dallam County, and at least 40 people were hospitalized.
