- ➤ Hope Village—a $29M investment—aims to cut the waitlist for over 300 special needs adults by offering job training and community services like a coffee shop, deli and ice cream parlor open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Construction began in 2023 and the project is being built in stages to avoid debt while planning to add a gym, sports fields and a day care center and create jobs for 70 to over 100 individuals. - ➤ During the April 1-3 operation, officers from DPS and APD arrested 23 individuals—issued citations to 18 others and recovered $9,800 in stolen property—in a targeted crackdown on retail theft affecting local businesses. Amarillo Globe-News

- ➤ Workforce Solutions Panhandle is hosting the 2025 Spring Amarillo Job Fair Tuesday at the Amarillo Civic Center South Exhibit Hall—over 90 employers like Pantex and Xcel Energy will meet job seekers from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and the event is free to attend; an estimated 1,200 to 1,500 people are expected. - ➤ The Don Harrington Discovery Center is registering children for its Day Camp for Easter weekend, which will run on April 18 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.—the camp welcomes kids ages 4 through fourth grade with full-day sessions for children 5 and older and half-day options at different rates for members and non-members. - ➤ The City of Amarillo is working on a water main break—reported at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday—near South Loop 335 between Georgia Street and Washington Street that may cut water service for up to 48 hours, while the Hollywood Road Wastewater Treatment Facility is closed to waste haulers until Monday due to inflow issues and expected bad weather. - ➤ Canyon ISD confirmed that a staff member at Canyon Intermediate School was diagnosed with measles— the employee was last on campus on March 26 and this is the first confirmed case from Potter or Randall County as reported in a health advisory by the district and Amarillo Public Health.
