- ➤ David Prescott, a candidate for Place 3 on Amarillo City Council, said his top plan is to expand the Hollywood Road Wastewater Treatment Plant because it is using more than 80% of its allowed water and may hold back future growth. He brings nearly 30 years of environmental experience and will seek state+federal grants to fund the $800 million project over nine years without raising property taxes. Amarillo Globe-News
- ➤ The Amarillo City Council will hold its final meeting before the May 3 election Tuesday at 3 p.m. at City Hall, where they will discuss revised AEDC policies and procedures and consider seating a permanent AEDC board after four members resigned last November. The council will also review a proposal to reclassify one library book, approve state fund distribution for City projects—including the Amarillo-Potter Event Venue District—and see a Dura Patcher demonstration plus a resolution on a new Municipal Utility District policy. - ➤ Nune Perez—a Lamb County native and U.S. Navy veteran working at Cacique Foods—is running for Amarillo City Council Place 3 and promises long-term fixes for water, roads, public safety and economic growth.
