- ➤ Canyon Storage TX in Canyon is offering three months free storage to Madison Park residents affected by the tornado—business partners Joe Shehan, Reese and Roger Cross have provided about 50 units and are supporting relief efforts. NewsChannel 10
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Two tornadoes struck north of Canyon late Friday night into early Saturday morning. The National Weather Service rated the Madison Park tornado as an EF-1 with 110 mph winds while a separate EF-0 tornado touched down near McCormick Road, with storm sirens sounding in both Canyon and Amarillo. - ➤ Three tornadoes touched down in the Texas Panhandle late Friday night into early Saturday morning causing damage in Randall and Deaf Smith counties — one tornado in Canyon’s Madison Park neighborhood reached high-end EF-1 intensity with winds of 110 mph and no injuries were reported. - ➤ A City of Amarillo source said that Long John Silver's has begun water service at 4406 S. Bell Street—its planned new spot—hinting that the fast-food chain may soon return to town. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ On April 25th, the National Weather Service in Amarillo confirmed that three tornadoes hit the Texas Panhandle and caused significant damage but no injuries — two tornadoes struck Randall County and one hit Deaf Smith County. One EF1 tornado touched down near FM1058 and County Road K at 11:08 p.m. near Hereford and produced 100 mph winds that snapped trees, broke power poles and damaged roofs. ABC 7 Amarillo

- ➤ TxDOT Amarillo announced that the left lane of northbound I-27 from FM 2219 to McCormick Road will be closed overnight for concrete paving from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Tuesday April 29, Wednesday April 30, Thursday May 1 and Friday May 2—additional lane closures on I-40 and SH 15 are planned this week for repairs with work expected to finish by summer.
