  • Supporters and staff at The Bridge Children's Advocacy Center gathered Monday to break ground on a new 34,725 sqft facility on Wallace Blvd that will expand mental health and forensic services for abused children + boost professional collaboration across the Panhandle.  Amarillo Globe-News
  • After weeks of renovations, Amarillo Zoo reopened today and now operates as a nonprofit with improved animal exhibits. Zoo officials said community support is fueling further upgrades and maintenance to keep the facility welcoming and safe.  ABC 7 Amarillo
  • Amarillo gets busy this weekend as families celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Enjoy Saturday’s Lemonade Day stands and Fajita Festival at Hodgetown Stadium, Thursday’s School of Rock at ALT Mainstage, and a parade and celebration at Alamo Park on May 2 (plus other local events).  Amarillo Globe-News

  • Amarillo Symphony will host the 55th annual Greater Southwest Music Festival from April 30 to May 2 in downtown Amarillo, featuring nearly 10,000 student musicians from Texas & New Mexico & Oklahoma who will perform free ensemble shows, attend workshops, and join an awards ceremony.  Amarillo Globe-News
  • The Discovery Center will host an adults-only screening of Return of the Jedi for Star Wars Day on May 4. Tickets are $10 for general admission or $25 for a wristband that includes themed drinks and unlimited popcorn.  96.9 KISS FM
  • Comedian Jerry Seinfeld will perform his latest stand-up routine Saturday, July 25 at 8 p.m. at the Amarillo Civic Center Auditorium; tickets (starting at $79) went on sale on April 17.  Amarillo Globe-News

  • Goodwill’s Amarillo Resource Center and Amarillo National Bank will offer a free four-part financial literacy series from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at 1904 Bell St starting May 5 + residents should sign up early as space is limited.  NewsChannel 10
  • Today at the Randall County Fire Station, over 2,000 students take part in the bi-annual Safety Town event where they learn life-saving lessons on seatbelts and booster seats plus the dangers of improper restraint use through interactive demonstrations.  ABC 7 Amarillo
  • Registration is open for Wild West Wildlife Rehabilitation Center’s two-day summer camps starting in June. Campers aged 6–9 join sessions at the center on Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. while 10–14-year-olds attend at Amarillo Zoo & Sanctuary on Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. for $99.  NewsChannel 10

  • Amarillo drivers may soon see changes as TxDOT plans to widen I-27 from four to six lanes and adjust Hillside exit—shifting traffic to the Western interchange. The proposed updates are still years away and remain subject to change.  NewsTalk 940 AM
