ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • An industrial accident injured two people on Tuesday afternoon at 9200 Triangle Drive when maintenance on an asphalt tanker truck led to a flashover that sent one victim flying while both were transported for treatment and the Amarillo Fire Department and Fire Marshal investigated the scene — no fire damaged property.  ABC 7 Amarillo

CULTURE NEWS

  • Dozens of artworks by young artists are on display at the Amarillo Museum of Art from May 3 to May 16 as part of the Texas Panhandle Student Art Show.   • Texas Workforce Commission will award three JET grants on Friday to support career training at Panhandle colleges. Joe Esparza will present ceremonial checks at 10 a.m. at Workforce Solutions Panhandle in Amarillo—grants of $311,476 to Amarillo College, $97,025 to Clarendon College, and $331,298 to Frank Phillips College will fund training for EMTs, nursing assistants and licensed practical and vocational nurses.  NewsChannel 10
  • Teacher appreciation week is underway in Amarillo as local businesses offer freebies and discounts to educators — teachers can get a free car wash today, $15 off oil changes, free donuts, free breakfast items and free appetizers by showing their teacher badge.
