COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Terry Coffee and Sace Hardman discussed the Blaze Coffee Memorial Motorcycle Ride on KGNC’s NewsDay Amarillo with Tim Butler, explaining that the ride will take place on Saturday in Panhandle to benefit the Coffee Memorial Blood Center—helping to honor Blaze Coffee. This event aims to support local blood donations through a community-led memorial ride.  KGNC

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A fire at the storage facility on 1550 Bell Street caused $300,000 in damage on Tuesday at around 3:50 p.m. in Amarillo and took firefighters 3.5 hours to control the blaze—investigators from the Fire Marshal’s Office are still determining its cause.  ABC 7 Amarillo

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Rosenbach family bought the historic Helium Plant and is renovating it into a community hub with shops + a wedding venue, a concert space, and play areas for kids. They said they will open parts of the site within a year while honoring the plant’s history and serving local families + Route 66 travelers.  Amarillo Tribune

  • Workforce Solutions hosted a career signing day Tuesday morning at AmTech that recognized over 35 high school students who signed job offers in fields such as electrical, construction, HVAC, and culinary arts. Local professionals and mentors joined the event—where companies like Hamilton Concrete & Steel and Street Toyota hired new workers—to help meet local workforce needs.  Amarillo Globe-News

  • Tim Reid was sworn in as Amarillo’s newest councilmember Tuesday, replacing Josh Craft who stepped away after two years to focus on family—Reid stressed his commitment to clear communication with all residents while a runoff election for Place 3 is set for June 7.  Amarillo Globe-News

HEALTH NEWS

  • A new emergency care facility hosted a ribbon cutting on May 7 at 4409 East I-40 near the QT truck stop and will begin treating patients at 7 a.m. Monday, June 16 to serve residents living 6 to 10 miles from the nearest ER—nurse manager Denise Ramos said the center features nine private treatment rooms and faster lab services.  Amarillo Globe-News

  • Inspired Taste is hiring three Amarillo residents to be Chief Pasta Officers in a two-week job that pays $1500 and offers a food allowance as they cook and rate pasta recipes.
