COMMUNITY NEWS

  • More than 500 worn flags were exchanged in Amarillo on Memorial Day as part of America’s 250th birthday celebration organized by NewsChannel10, Scouting America & local businesses. The flags will be retired Thursday at the Texas Panhandle War Memorial with supervision by the Amarillo Fire Department.  NewsChannel 10
  • On Memorial Day, veterans & families gathered at Llano Cemetery to honor fallen comrades. Former mayor Paul Harpole spoke on sacrifice and unity while remembering the true cost of war.  ABC 7 Amarillo
  • During Memorial Day Weekend, local broadcasters invite Amarillo residents to send in photos of family members who served in the military to honor their ultimate sacrifice. The images will be featured online and during broadcasts on a dedicated memorial segment.  ABC 7 Amarillo
  • Ussery-Roan held its annual Memorial Day service yesterday in Amarillo, honoring veterans with a Warbirds flyover, presentation of colors, roll call and the playing of Taps at the veteran home.
