  • Early Saturday morning, a 22-year-old man drowned when his car crashed into a playa lake off Soncy Road as Amarillo police and Randall County deputies arrived at 3:54 a.m. and a dive team later recovered the empty vehicle—an autopsy was ordered.  ABC 7 Amarillo

  • Owner Noe Trejo said Pony Express Burrito will open soon at the space near 34th and Georgia after putting up a temporary banner—removing the old Pizzeria Nomad mural. Local drivers noticed the empty wall and hope a new artwork will brighten the spot.  NewsTalk 940 AM

  • Timothy Thompson, a 31-year-old white man described as 5-foot-11 and 150-pound with brown eyes and brown hair, is wanted for robbery by the Potter County Sheriff's Office - Amarillo Crime Stoppers offers a reward of up to $300 for tips.  ABC 7 Amarillo

  • The Texas Route 66 Festival will run from June 5 to June 14 and will feature classic Americana events that celebrate the history of the Mother Road — drawing in local businesses and community members. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Abbott is expected to sign Senate Bill 4 (SB4) and Senate Bill 23 (SB23) that will raise the homestead exemption to lower property taxes by nearly $500 per year for homeowners. The new rules will take effect on September 1.  NewsTalk 940 AM
