- ➤ Amarillo police and Randall County deputies responded to a vehicle crash into Playa Lake at 77th and Soncy on Saturday at 3:54, and after the dive team recovered the submerged car they found 22-year-old Joel Montijo deceased—an autopsy was ordered while the investigation continues. KGNC
- ➤ The Randall County Fire Department responded to a fire Sunday morning at Mr. W Fireworks at 5910 FM 1541 in Amarillo, and the building and all contents were lost due to fire + water damage + while investigators review the cause. NewsChannel 10
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Dumas police officers — along with detectives and the Special Response Team — executed a search warrant Saturday at 7 a.m. in the 800 block of Binkley Street; the search uncovered over 360 grams of methamphetamine valued at about $18,000 and drug paraphernalia, leading to arrests of 45-year-old Cesar Sanchez for possessing with intent to distribute and 47-year-old Benny Ortiz for simple possession. - ➤ Amarillo will host free live concerts at Sam Houston Park starting Tuesday, June 3, and Tuesday Jazz at Amarillo College will begin on the same day.
