- ➤ Yesterday, the High Plains Food Bank received 780 pounds of butter and 280 pounds of cheese from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to help meet record levels of need across 29 counties. The donation supports its Fill the Gap campaign that has raised over $200,000 and aids nearly 14,000 households each month (a vital resource for families facing high grocery costs). The event will start at 3 p.m. Friday inside the Rex Baxter Building at the fairgrounds, where local celebrities will compete using wax bullets in a timed draw for the trophy belt buckle.
