  • On June 5, AMBUCS of Amarillo presented custom mobility trikes at Amarillo Country Club to a two-year-old with spina bifida, a three-year-old with a rare chromosome deletion, and a 53-year-old with cerebral palsy—each designed with therapist input to improve their movement and play opportunities. The donations are part of the local chapter's ongoing efforts to enhance quality of life for area families.  Amarillo Globe-News

  • A Potter County grand jury indicted David Allen Crowder for murder after he allegedly chased and shot his girlfriend Ariana Estrada multiple times with an AR style rifle on May 4 in Amarillo—her family plans a benefit to raise money for her memorial and support her 4-year-old son Kai.  ABC 7 Amarillo

  • Amarillo will soon get a magic theater that has live shows, a lounge, a museum, a magic shop and a school where people can learn magic. The venue is behind a fence off US-287N and Cherry Street (it will open in October).  NewsTalk 940 AM

EDUCATION NEWS

  • West Texas A&M University announced that full-time Region 16 educators—including teachers, support staff and others—are eligible for a 50% tuition discount under its new Educators Excellence Initiative.   • Amarillo voters will decide the City Council Place 3 runoff today from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., choosing between incumbent Tom Scherlen and challenger David Prescott—early voting dropped nearly 20% with 5,922 ballots cast.  Amarillo Globe-News
