  • The Fitness at KT Black Run and Walk will return as part of the 2025 Texas Route 66 Festival Finale on June 14 at 8 a.m. at 920 SW 7th Ave. in Amarillo—participants will choose from a 5k, 10k or one-mile walk to help Transformation Park serve the city's homeless population.  NewsChannel 10

  • The Randall County Sheriff’s Office warns drivers to avoid the FM 2219 — I-27 area— due to a vehicle rollover as a news crew heads to the scene.  NewsChannel 10

CRIME NEWS

  • Police will perform an autopsy today on Justin Lee Crouch (42) who was fatally shot during an officer involved shooting at a Walmart on Georgia Street in Amarillo after officers responded at (11:40 a.m.) on June 7 to a call about a suspicious vehicle near I-27.  ABC 7 Amarillo
  • Police responded to a shooting at the Axiom at Bell apartment complex on June 9 around 6 p.m. where one person was injured and taken to a local hospital while a suspect was arrested—authorities are investigating the case.  ABC 7 Amarillo

EDUCATION NEWS

  • West Texas A&M University’s Great Books series returns today to talk about Herman Melville’s 'Bartleby, the Scrivener' at 7 p.m. at Burrowing Owl Books—2461 W. I-40 in Wolflin Square—where Dr. Pat Tyrer will lead the discussion on modern work and life stress.  NewsChannel 10

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • After an overnight hailstorm brought 80 mph winds and large hail, Canyon declared a disaster on June 8 to speed up recovery efforts—this marks the city's second declaration in just over a month following a damaging tornado. City crews are now assessing the damage while state and federal agencies help coordinate cleanup and resource mobilization.  Amarillo Globe-News
  • The Amarillo League of Women Voters will host its annual Meeting & Potluck on Saturday, June 14 at 10 a.m. at the Amarillo Area Foundation where local members will vote on a new board and hear Dr. Brian Ingrassia's talk on American history.  NewsChannel 10

  • Patrick Lee with Big Texan defended his title at the Amarillo fast draw contest on June 6 at Rex Baxter corral at the Tri State Fairgrounds. Six competitors, including the mayor and a police officer, competed in rounds measured by a computerized system (recording reaction times and accuracy), and Lee edged out his rivals to win the bejeweled belt buckle.  Amarillo Globe-News
