  • Long John Silver’s will reopen in July at 4406 Bell Street in the former Mr. Noodle’s/Arby’s building—led by Splash Foods, LLC and Denis Schoenhofer. The new restaurant will serve fan-favorite fish and chicken plates and introduce waffle fries instead of the original version.  96.9 KISS FM

  • Amarillo police are asking for help to find Lisa Lombrana, a missing 12-year-old last seen around 3:20 a.m. on June 10th when she was dropped off at a home on East Bonita wearing a baby blue hoodie, peach shorts and puffy house shoes - anyone with tips is urged to call 806-378-3038.  NewsChannel 10
  • Amarillo police investigated a shooting at Axiom Apartments on Bell Street on Monday, June 9 at 6:08 p.m.—one person was injured and is in stable condition at a local hospital—and suspect Darreus Henderson Brown was booked into Potter County Detention Center on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.  Amarillo Globe-News

  • Sod-Fest music festival will be held at HODGETOWN from July 18 to 20 and is Amarillo’s first festival held inside a baseball stadium. The event will feature a Texas-focused lineup including acts like Hunter Reed, Tristan Roberson & Hadlie Jo while Saturday brings more bands and Sunday offers a private VIP acoustic brunch.  NewsTalk 940 AM

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Texas Health and Human Services Commission held a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday for the Panhandle State Hospital, a new $159 million hospital that will have 75 beds for inpatient psychiatric care in a non-maximum security setting (designed with the latest mental health standards) and is expected to be complete in 2027. Local leaders (including Mayor Cole Stanley and Senator Kevin Sparks) spoke at the event and emphasized the need to improve mental health care in rural areas.  NewsChannel 10
  • Local officials and members of the public gathered under a large tent on Tuesday morning to break ground for the Panhandle State Hospital at 6610 W. Amarillo Blvd.—the $159 million project will include 50 forensic beds and is expected to create 300 to 400 jobs while enhancing workforce training from West Texas A&M.  Amarillo Tribune
