- ➤ An Amarillo nonprofit is converting an old motel into transitional housing for homeless veterans and is finalizing phase one plans to create seven one-bedroom units that can house up to 14 veterans. The project will need to raise $18,000 by June 30 so the facility can open by November — providing veterans access to support services near the Amarillo VA. NewsChannel 10
- ➤ Farmers markets have begun summer sales across Amarillo and Canyon with vendors selling fresh fruits, vegetables, crafts and local art. Some markets add extra attractions—like live music, food trucks and a goat petting area—to offer more shopping choices. Amarillo Globe-News

- ➤ Amarillo is celebrating Juneteenth for a week starting today with Alpha Phi Alpha’s All White Party at Reed Beverage Hospitality Room and free empowerment events at the Black Historical Cultural Center from June 16 to 18, along with a Juneteenth Brunch, pageant, parade on June 21, and basketball games on June 22. Organizers say the theme 'locking arms and moving forward' honors local trailblazers with a new mural and awards—efforts that empower residents to build fellowship—marking a series of events centered on unity. - ➤ Amarillo approved a major reorganization of its city leadership to boost efficiency and plan for upcoming retirements, naming Laura Storrs as the new CEO and keeping Floyd Hartman as a special advisor until 2026.
