- ➤ Amarillo will celebrate Juneteenth with a week of events from June 16 to 22 featuring a parade, brunch with awards, educational programs and a mural unveiling at the Black Historical Cultural Center—city offices will close Thursday and services will adjust for the holiday. Amarillo Globe-News
- ➤ Uniting Parents invites families of children with disabilities, service providers and advocates to the free Route 66 Abilities Conference this Saturday in Amarillo at Southwest Church of Christ —4515 Cornell St.— where networking and educational sessions will take place. - ➤ On Sunday, June 15th, Amarillo officers pursued Aaron Walling, 37, in a stolen car after a tip at 11:40 a.m.; the chase led through busy streets and a parking garage before his car crashed and caught fire on the 1500 block of S. Kentucky—Walling then fled into a nearby home and was arrested on charges including DWI, aggravated assault against a peace officer, evading police, and criminal trespass. ABC 7 Amarillo

- ➤ Crews began demolishing the old Potter County Courthouse on Monday in Amarillo using excavators from the parking lot entrance. - ➤ Amarillo City Council approved David Prescott as the new Place Three representative today. Prescott, an environmental consultant and owner of engineering firm Talon LPE, won the runoff with 4,660 votes while his opponent Tom Scherlen received 4,609 votes. NewsChannel 10
- ➤ Governor Greg Abbott is expected to sign Texas House Bill 1481 that would ban students from using personal communication devices in schools—except for those with documented medical needs.
