- ➤ The Panhandle People's Pantry is offering free breakfast every weekday from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Black Historical Cultural Center—children under 18 can join literacy and team-building activities planned by teacher Marli Shaw, and the program will run until August 13. ABC 7 Amarillo
- ➤ United Way of Amarillo and Canyon’s hotline service 211 is teaming with the City of Amarillo Community Development Department to give 300 free box fans to residents who are 55 or older, have a child under five, or receive disability benefits+ they must show acceptable proof of eligibility. The fan giveaway event will run on July 18 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the United Way facility on Line Avenue+ any remaining fans can be picked up by calling hotline service 211. NewsChannel 10
- ➤ Today, Advo’s Hope Village opened its doors in Amarillo to provide on-the-job training for people with disabilities and help them become self-sufficient (the center will expand its services with a daycare, print shop, gymnasium, and information center, and its official grand opening is set for August 15). - ➤ Panhandle Plains Historical Museum will host Movie on the Lawn on Friday, July 18 from 8:30 to 11 p.m. Visitors are invited to bring blankets and lawn chairs for a screening of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, with free movie, select concessions, and a museum store pop-up featuring merchandise + treats.
