- ➤ Hope Village opened a deli, a coffee shop, and an ice cream parlor on July 16 at 5241 S. Washington St.—the new businesses give adults with disabilities job training and community-based work experience; the center, run by Advo Companies, plans to add a print shop and daycare to its growing services. - ➤ The Panhandle People’s Pantry is providing free hot breakfast to children under 18 every weekday from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Black Historical Cultural Center until August 13 — the program offers French toast, waffles, eggs and more to help keep Amarillo kids well fed. NewsTalk 940 AM
- ➤ United Way of Amarillo & Canyon will give away 300 box fans today from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 2207 Line Avenue in Amarillo to eligible seniors, families with children under 5, and those receiving disability benefits (eligibility must be verified with a Texas-issued ID, birth certificate, or SSDI award letter). - ➤ Our Lady of Guadalupe Church will host the 44th Las Fiestas de Amarillo this weekend with food booths, a silent auction, kid games and music—Saturday’s parade kicks off on Arthur Street at 11 a.m. and Sunday opens at 10 a.m. with a $5 entry fee after 5 p.m. for adults while kids 15 and under enter free.
