- ➤ On July 25, the 100 Club received a $25K donation in memory of Chris Copeland, who died on July 8 while saving a police officer during a 2023 incident— the gift will help first responders by funding plans to expand mental health support and improve equipment. Corporal Steven Kennedy presented the donation to honor Copeland’s selfless bravery in the community. Amarillo Globe-News
- ➤ At the Texas Panhandle War Memorial Center on July 26, the DAR Patriotic Car Show drew over 39 cars and featured a Mustang entered by a mother to honor her son, Army SPC Seth Drew—who lost his battle with PTSD. Organizers said the event had vendors and a kids' scavenger hunt and will return next year with plans tied to America’s 250th birthday. Amarillo Globe-News

- ➤ On July 26, Amarillo College hosted its 17th annual Chalk It Up event where 37 artists in 23 teams turned concrete squares into colorful murals — judges gave cash prizes including $500 for first place.
