- ➤ A deadly explosion at the Panhandle Milling flour mill in Deaf Smith County on July 23 (in the early morning) injured three people and killed Melissa Mungia (36 and mother of three), whose family remembered her kind nature. NewsChannel 10

- ➤ AMA-CON, Amarillo’s original pop culture event, will be held Saturday, Aug. 2 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Amarillo Civic Center with family-friendly activities, cosplay contests and gaming tournaments. Special guest Optimus Prime will appear — admission is $8 for a one-day pass and $10 for a two-day pass as proceeds benefit Friends of the Amarillo Public Library. NewsChannel 10

- ➤ Amarillo parents are urged to prepare for the 2025-26 school year as key dates for drop-offs, holiday breaks, and Meet the Teacher nights for local districts are being finalized.
