- ➤ Local and state leaders gathered on July 31 on the Barfield Hotel balcony to dedicate a Texas Historical marker that honors the 10-story building—built in 1927 and reopened in 2021 after a renovation—for its role in downtown revival. The marker will be permanently installed at the Polk Street entrance today, reinforcing Amarillo’s heritage tourism. Amarillo Globe-News
- ➤ On Aug. 2, 2025, families gathered at Bones Hooks Park in Amarillo for the ninth annual Unity in the Community Water Bash, where kids and adults enjoyed water fights, food trucks, and plenty of summer fun. - ➤ Two suspects were arrested on Sunday after a Potter County traffic stop uncovered a stolen firearm and items linked to recent Amarillo auto burglaries + a search warrant led to the recovery of additional stolen property, with both suspects later booked into the Potter County Detention Center. - ➤ Randall County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 12 people on Sunday for charges including driving without a license, controlled substances, and public lewdness — incidents were recorded from early morning to late evening. KGNC
