ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ The Amarillo Fire Department fought a fire on Saturday morning at 6:01 in a trailer home and a shed on Eagle Lane, arriving in six minutes and using nine apparatus and 29 firefighters to control the blaze by 8:15 a.m.—no injuries were reported even though both buildings were deemed total losses with an estimated $150,000 in damage. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Today the Amarillo School Board meets at 5:30 in the Rod Schroder Education Support Center at 7200 I-40 West to hear the Superintendent’s Report, review several board reports and hold a public hearing on the proposed AISD Internet Safety Plan. The Board will also consider changes to the Student Code of Conduct, granting 4-H extracurricular status, staff status for extension agents and district budgeted purchases—while starting the meeting with public comments. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The RANGE launched AgriShield, a pilot program using particulate sensors and broadband to detect early signs of wildfire in high-risk rangeland — the program is backed by a $125K grant from the Amarillo Area Foundation and will begin deploying sensors in the coming months. Amarillo Globe-News

- ➤ The Potter County Sheriff's Office is hosting its 17th Citizens Academy starting in September for a 12-week free course that meets every Tuesday from 6 PM to 9 PM, offering ride-alongs, jail tours, and law enforcement presentations—participants will complete the course with a graduation ceremony and should call Sgt.
