Good morning, Amarillo.
🏛️ Government
On Aug. 22, Amarillo closed splash pads (and suspended irrigation at city facilities) because of severe water shortages from ongoing drought conditions.
The move builds on earlier voluntary measures as officials work to preserve water for essential community needs.
City officials have shut down park splash pads and stopped irrigation as extreme drought drops the reservoir to 60% capacity.
They urge residents and businesses to voluntarily limit outdoor watering while efforts to restore water levels continue.
