ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Saturday evening just past 8, Amarillo Police responded to a major crash on the 7700 block of Southeast 3rd when a 2014 Harley Davidson lost control and hit a 2016 Honda, causing both unhelmeted riders to be thrown from their bikes and die at the scene while officers investigated the incident.  KGNC

CRIME NEWS

  • Amarillo Police responded to a shooting at Indian Trail Apartments on the 4100 block of Prairie Avenue at 9:54 p.m. Saturday, where they found a 20-year-old man with gunshot wounds from a dispute over a girlfriend— the suspected shooter provided first aid as officers arrived and the victim was taken to Northwest Texas Hospital in stable condition.  KGNC
  • Amarillo police are looking for Thalia Garcia—a 10-year-old girl last seen at 9 p.m. near 27th Ave and South Cleveland Street wearing a pink tie-dye T-shirt with a red heart, shorts, no shoes, glasses, and a single braid.  ABC 7 Amarillo
  • Trusted city employees and credit union officers in the Texas Panhandle—such as Amarillo, Borger, Dumas, and Pampa—allegedly embezzled thousands from federally funded programs and local institutions over several years, shocking small communities.  96.9 KISS FM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • TxDOT Amarillo said that today the right lane on southbound US 87 from Cherry Avenue to SL 335 is closed for mill and fill work and the eastbound SL 335 ramp from FM 1061 is closed from 5:30 a.m. to noon for a bridge deck pour. The report adds that additional lane closures on US 87, I-27 and SH 15 will occur this week for pavement repairs and high-mast lighting installation—traffic will be guided by signs and a pilot car.  ABC 7 Amarillo

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Clifton Builders announced a new development called Clifton Ridge in Canyon that will offer 1,000 sq ft homes for under $200,000 and larger single-family homes on one- to two-acre lots for under $330,000. The project, near the Canyon Country Club, will begin in two months—designed for first-time buyers and those looking to downsize.  96.9 KISS FM
