- ➤ Motorcycles roared on Looby Lane on Aug. 27 as the 12th annual Ride for the Fallen honored fallen U.S. Special Operations members and their families—local businessman Ricky Looby hosted the stop with live music, food and an aerial flyover that united the community. Amarillo Globe-News
- ➤ Former Amarillo Mayor Trent Sisemore—who served from 2001 to 2005—has been named Fermi America’s new Community Lead for its AI hyper-grid project and will work to bring local views as the project grows on over 5,000 acres. Rick Perry, a Fermi co-founder, called him to ask for his help and back the project. Amarillo Tribune
- ➤ Amarillo Parks and Recreation announced that Pirates of the Park will bring hot air balloons back on October 25th with launches starting at 7 a.m.—the event will also feature Halloween costumes, food trucks, and an evening glow at 7 p.m. at John Stiff Park, and it is open to the public. 96.9 KISS FM
- ➤ 4-year-old Raygan has set up lemonade stands to pay off past-due lunch accounts at local schools—she raised over $900 last year and plans to raise more during fall vendor shows as the new school year begins. NewsChannel 10

- ➤ Xcel Energy officials said that power was restored near SW 10th and Georgia after crews fixed damage from a vehicle striking a pole at 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 29th — about 1,600 households had lost power until repairs were complete. NewsChannel 10

- ➤ Amarillo police arrested Adam Moreno after a two-month review of organized retail theft that recovered $80,000 in stolen merchandise+ including tools and equipment from a residence at 2809 Tampa Bay. Amarillo Globe-News
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Officials with Fermi America explained that the Advanced Intelligence and Energy Campus in Amarillo will use water, natural gas, solar and nuclear power to fuel AI data centers, with the first gigawatt using water equivalent to growing several sections of sweetcorn. Fermi America will also build a HALEU production facility — partnering with Westinghouse to complete the license for four AP1000 reactors that will eventually supply 11 gigawatts to 15 data centers.
