CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Aaron Wayne Walling, also known as the Bikini Bandit, was indicted by a Potter County grand jury for assaulting a public servant, evading arrest, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle — not including the driving while intoxicated charge — after his June 15 crime spree that involved a high-speed chase, crashing through barriers and breaking into a home. - ➤ Amarillo Police responded Thursday to a string of thefts, auto burglaries, and a hit-and-run across several blocks while arresting a suspect for public intoxication, another for DWI, and a third for domestic assault—further incidents involved damage at an apartment and store thefts. KGNC

- ➤ Today, TxDOT offices are closed for Labor Day. Starting tomorrow, the right lane on southbound US 87 will close for mill and fill operations, the US 87 exit ramp is closed Wednesday, and on Thursday, the eastbound right lane on State Loop 335 will close, with daily lane restrictions on the I-40 frontage road and SH 15 — drivers should plan extra travel time — for smooth work. - ➤ Local Dalhart football players and Sunray volunteers have worked to repair the football stadium that was severely damaged in August by a wind storm—destroying bleachers, lights, and other parts of the facility.
