- ➤ AT&T and nonprofit Human-I-T are donating 50 refurbished laptops to Amarillo students at the United Way office at 2207 Line Ave at 4:30 p.m. today—community leaders including Sen. Kevin Sparks will help distribute the devices. NewsChannel 10
- ➤ Amarillo business owners renovating two North Heights buildings are hosting the Soul Food Fundraiser on September 6th from noon to 6 p.m. at the Black Historical Cultural Center. Shi Lee’s Barbecue & Soul Food will cater the event—charging $15 per plate—to raise funds for the center and the Historic Nurse’s Quarters. NewsChannel 10
- ➤ Amarillo will host the Big Texas Rally for Recovery — a family-friendly event with interactive activities, a resource fair, door prizes and free dinner set for Saturday from 2 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. at Southwest Church of Christ on Cornell St, where community leaders and service providers will share hope stories. - ➤ TxDOT advised drivers that SE 10th was closed on Sep. 4 due to a nearby train incident—Amarillo officials redirected traffic to SE 3rd Ave while crews responded to the scene. NewsChannel 10

- ➤ Amarillo police reported that two burglary suspects were in custody after a manhunt early this morning in the City View area—one was caught on foot while armed and the other was apprehended after barricading themselves inside a home, and City View Elementary School remains on lock down. - ➤ Amarillo police arrested two men after a vehicle pursuit in the City View neighborhood on Sept. 4 when a foot chase led to a SWAT standoff at a home on Sierra Drive—one man was found with a loaded handgun while a second was recovered from the vehicle. Amarillo Globe-News

- ➤ The Tri-State Fair and Rodeo will run from Sept. 12 to Sept. 20 at the exposition grounds in Amarillo and will feature nine days of rodeo competitions, livestock shows, concerts and carnival rides. - ➤ The Amarillo Black Historical Cultural Center is hosting a Soul Food fundraiser on Sept. 6 from noon to 6 p.m.—aiming to raise $5K to repair the historic nurses’ quarters adjacent to its building.
