- ➤ Amarillo City Council approved a $557M budget for the fiscal year 2025 to 2026 on Sept 9 to raise the city tax rate from 38.723 to 43.07 cents per $100 valuation in order to fund pay raises for police and firefighters, road improvements, and public services. The plan also supports design work for a $42M drainage project at Lawrence Lake and will be reviewed at a public hearing on Sept 16 — the revised budget aims to meet growing service and infrastructure needs.
