- ➤ The Forgotten Dog League of Amarillo joined the BISSELL Pet Foundation in the Empty the Shelters campaign and will offer reduced adoption fees of $70 or less at PetSmart every Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. during October—each pet will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped with fostering available if adoption is not possible. - ➤ Larry Boyer—president of the Amarillo Area Corvette Car Club—said on KGNC’s NewsDay Amarillo with Tim Butler that the club’s Poker Run will be held this Saturday. The event will bring local car enthusiasts together for a day of fun and classic rides. KGNC
- ➤ The Hope and Healing Place will host its annual Big Cheese Cook-Off on Tuesday, Oct. 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Rex Baxter Building on the Tri-State Fairgrounds to raise funds for local grief support services—local restaurants, community teams, and families are invited to sample unlimited mac-and-cheese and enjoy raffle prizes. - ➤ The Panhandle Adult Rebuilding Center — PARC — is registering people for its fall fundraiser called Woven Together on Saturday, Oct. 4 at the Amarillo Civic Center with dinner, dessert, an open bar, a whiskey pull and a silent auction planned. - ➤ Amarillo travelers will be able to enroll in TSA PreCheck at Rick Husband International Airport from October 7 to 10 — enrollment is available Tuesday to Friday between 9 am–12 pm and 1 pm–5 pm and requires a valid ID and proof of citizenship to skip long security lines. 96.9 KISS FM
- ➤ During WT's Homecoming Week in Canyon on Sept. 27, hundreds of students and alumni gathered at Fall Gather—featuring live music, interactive activities and a tribute to Dr. Stanley Schaeffer—to celebrate Texas Panhandle agriculture while raising funds for WT clubs and organizations. The event, held on lawns between Buffalo Courts and 26th Street, marked a growing community celebration of local farming heritage. Amarillo Globe-News
- ➤ Acts Community in Amarillo is selling tickets for a 1920s-themed dance fundraiser on Oct. 4 at Arts in the Sunset, where general admission includes a taco bar and VIP tickets offer special seating, three free drinks — and gourmet snacks.
