  • Martha's Home—featured on KGNC's NewsDay Amarillo with Sharon Miner—will host its A Night in Paris fundraiser on October 11th to raise funds for its services.  KGNC

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Amanda Kenner, the general manager at the Amarillo McDonald's on I-40 — Western, was named one of the fast food giant’s top-performing managers worldwide after receiving the Ray Kroc Award for excellence in operations, team building and customer service. She has worked at the restaurant for 16 years and is one of only 397 managers to earn the honor.  ABC 7 Amarillo
  • Best Thai in Canyon avoided closure after its landlord did not renew its lease and secured a new location at 1202 23rd Street. The restaurant will continue serving customers at 210 23rd Street until the new space is ready—allowing fans to keep enjoying their meals.  96.9 KISS FM

CULTURE NEWS

  • The President's Own Marine Band will perform at the Amarillo Civic Center on Oct. 22 at 7:30 p.m. as part of its national tour — tickets are needed for this free show where the band will play traditional and patriotic music.  NewsChannel 10
  • The Hoodoo Mural Festival brought local artists, music and food to Amarillo on Sept 27 and drew about 3,000 visitors. The event featured live bands, interactive art and colorful murals—showing the community's creative spirit.  Amarillo Globe-News

  • The Amarillo Job Fair will take place on Tuesday, October 7 from 10 am — 2 pm at the Civic Center North Exhibit Hall and over 100 local businesses will offer jobs to job seekers in the area.  96.9 KISS FM

  • Teachers gathered for a two-day CHAMPS conference at Region 16 in Amarillo to learn tools for better classroom management—educators discussed using data tools and consistent techniques to ease the challenges of their early years in teaching.  ABC 7 Amarillo

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sysavath ‘CC’ Sysombath, P.E., has been named the Dumas Area Engineer for TxDOT Amarillo District, effective today—he will manage construction, maintenance and operations in six northwest counties. He brings over 20 years of local government experience and his expertise is expected to boost roadway safety.  ABC 7 Amarillo
  • Due to construction on northbound I-27 near McCormick Road, TxDOT has begun a long-term traffic switch as part of a project to widen the highway from four to six lanes and improve drainage—drivers must take the FM 2219/Lair Road exit since the McCormick exit is closed.   • Four district judges in Potter County announced their 2026 re-election bids last week at Reed Beverage. Judges Dee Johnson, Titiana Frausto, Steven Denny, and Ana Estevez will finish their current terms next year — they hope to serve again after the upcoming primary.  The Amarillo Pioneer
