- ➤ Amarillo Public Library joined with the Coming Home Program and United Way Youth Leadership Council to launch Socktober to collect (1,500) pairs of new adult socks for care kits for the unhoused, with donations accepted at all library branches through October 31. - ➤ Amarillo will host Monster Bash at the Discovery Center on October 24—this family event will feature science demos and spooky activities for all ages. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Multiple agencies battled a spreading grass fire near the Palo Duro Club yesterday—officials confirmed evacuations were underway on the south side and advised residents to avoid the area. NewsChannel 10
- ➤ A fire in Randall County burned 100 acres and was 30% contained by Texas A&M Forest Service crews who worked to control the Blackburn Canyon blaze that started Saturday — officials continue to monitor the area. ABC 7 Amarillo

- ➤ Lone Star Ballet will present 'A Haunting Whirl through the Brothers Grimm' at the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts (500 S. Buchanan St.) on Friday, Oct. 17 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 18 at 5 p.m.; the production will blend dark fairy tale themes into seven intertwined Grimm stories (showcasing unique choreography and set design) for audiences of all ages.
