- ➤ Amarillo’s Neon Slugfest will take place on Oct. 18 from 10 a.m.—4 p.m. at Street Volkswagen where classic Volkswagens will glow under neon lights, live music by Neon Heartland will play, and food trucks alongside kids’ face painting will offer family fun—all free to attend. NewsTalk 940 AM

- ➤ Amarillo’s second Chipotle is nearing opening as a hiring banner was posted at the future location on Hillside near Coulter—replacing the empty Arby’s building and signaling upcoming staff training. - ➤ Amarillo cinemas are offering special Halloween movie events this month. Cinergy will start a Halloween marathon—featuring horror classics beginning October 18th—while Tascosa Drive-In held a trunk-or-treat on October 11th and will host a triple feature on October 31st and an all-nighter on November 1st–2nd. 96.9 KISS FM
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Amarillo’s Animal Management and Welfare closed its pet depository on September 26—staff found unbagged animal remains posed health risks and contamination risks, so pet owners now must use double-bag disposal or ask their veterinarians for aftercare options. 96.9 KISS FM
- ➤ TxDOT Amarillo announced that the westbound shoulder of FM 1912 near the Tyson Foods plant is closed today for seal coat work and the I-40 exit ramp to Paramount Boulevard is closed for bridge work until Oct. 15. Additional lane closures on Spur 591 and on I-27 and I-40 frontage roads — set for high-mast lighting and patching operations — will affect traffic this week. ABC 7 Amarillo
