- ➤ Amarillo rock climbing gym ARCH closed at the end of September — it was a popular spot at AMP’d at Townsquare where both beginners and experts met to climb. Its closure has left local enthusiasts searching for a new community hub. 96.9 KISS FM
- ➤ NAACP Amarillo will host its 2025 Dr. RW Jones Freedom Fund Banquet this Saturday, Nov. 1 at 6 p.m. at the Amarillo Civic Center Grand Plaza—guest speaker Dr. Rashad Richey, known for his work on civil rights and higher education, will address the attendees as ticket prices range from $35 for students to $65 for individuals. - ➤ Families gathered at Bones Hooks Park on Saturday, Oct. 25 for Shi Lee's 10th annual Trunk or Treat, where over 1,000 new coats and free books by StoryBridge were given to help kids stay warm—showing strong local support. - ➤ Tickets are on sale for United Way’s United on the Range Gala set for November 8 at the Rex Baxter Building (3401 S.E. 10th Ave), where community members will gather for live music, food and entertainment that support area families. - ➤ Big Jim’s Pizza has announced that if SNAP benefits are not funded by November 1, it will offer a free slice of cheese or pepperoni pizza to kids (15 and under) to help families with food needs. - ➤ Center City of Amarillo is hosting its final Jazztober event today from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Historic Bivins Home at 1000 S. Polk St—Ruth Ellen Lynch and Jazz Plus will perform, and the event features the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile plus a free Halloween doggie dressup contest with on-site sign-up at 4:30 p.m. in the south parking lot.
