- ➤ Donnie Trammell, owner of Rancher’s Storefront, appeared on KGNC-AM’s NewsDay Amarillo on Thursday morning to explain how his store’s meats differ from others and to highlight a program that assisted local residents who did not get SNAP benefits during the government shutdown. KGNC
- ➤ Pescaraz Italian Restaurant in Amarillo will serve 250 free spaghetti and breadstick meals to families affected by the government shutdown today from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.—the offer is available with no questions asked. 96.9 KISS FM
- ➤ Amarillo Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics is hosting its 18th annual Candy Buy Back today at 8900 East Village Square from 3 to 6 p.m.—community members can sell leftover candy for $2 per pound up to 3 pounds while kids enjoy free face painting, emergency vehicles, and child safety IDs, and unused candy will be sent overseas to support troops. - ➤ Big Jim’s Pizza and K-N Root Beer are helping families by offering free meals for kids after many lost their SNAP benefits. The SNAP Kids Program now allows children to get a free grilled cheese sandwich when they show a SNAP card and photo ID (kids must be present). NewsTalk 940 AM
- ➤ The Panhandle Kids Count Lions Club will host a free bowling event for individuals with disabilities at Eastridge Lanes (5405 E. Amarillo Blvd) on Nov. 8 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (attendees may bring an adult guardian). NewsChannel 10
- ➤ Fiber arts are making a comeback in Amarillo as local stores expand to fill the gap left by JoAnn Fabrics' closure—The Knotted Thread Shop now offers classes and events that bring together crafters of all ages, and other local shops are also providing supplies and skill-building opportunities. - ➤ The Roan-Creek Marine Corps League is accepting registrations for the Veterans Day Parade in downtown Amarillo tomorrow. Participants can check in at 9 a.m.—the parade route runs from 11th and Polk to 5th and Harrison, and it will begin at 10 a.m. NewsChannel 10

- ➤ Get Fit is opening a new location in Greenways Village at 7669 Hillside, Suite 500+ to offer more running shoes, apparel, and expert fittings in the near future. The store will also host local charity runs and training sessions+ strengthening its role in our community. NewsTalk 940 AM
- ➤ Pony Express Burritos opened its new location at 34th and Georgia on November 3. The restaurant took over the former Pizzeria Nomad space — it received support from Coach Plunk and Tascosa High School staff and now serves Amarillo ISD students and local fans. NewsTalk 940 AM
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Amarillo City Hall won the President’s Award for Best Restoration at the Texas Downtown Awards—its trophy will soon be on display inside the building as a reminder of its achievement. NewsTalk 940 AM
- ➤ The Amarillo City Council approved the redevelopment project for the Herring Hotel in downtown on Tuesday, October 28—voting 4-0 with one abstention. The developers will begin final design and historic review as the project is expected to start 15 months after the agreement’s effective date—pending Potter County’s TIRZ vote. 96.9 KISS FM
- ➤ Amarillo Parks and Recreation announced that park restrooms will close on November 15 (to protect them from freezing weather) and will reopen in March, so families must plan their trips accordingly. 96.9 KISS FM
- ➤ Amarillo will test a rideshare pilot for low-income, elderly and disabled residents using an ADA-accessible van that offers door-to-door trips at a $1 fare. The program is set to begin early 2026 if approved at a November 18 City Council meeting — it will help riders get to doctor’s appointments, grocery stores and other key destinations.
