- ➤ The 100 Club opened its larger headquarters on November 13 to support first responders across the Panhandle by doubling space for mental health, family outreach and crisis aid. - ➤ Texas House Speaker Dustin Burrows announced Friday that Representative Caroline Fairly has been appointed to the 1836 Project Advisory Committee— a group within the Texas Education Agency that works to improve K-12 teaching materials. Fairly, who has helped shape school funding and policy during her first session, will work with educators and experts to update curriculum that reflects Texas founding principles. KGNC
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ TxDOT Amarillo said that on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon ramp closures will take place at the I-27 and I-40 interchange for barrier work, and on Thursday the right lane of westbound SL 335 will be closed for patching while lane and shoulder work on I-40 and lane closures on I-27 are planned — all work is set to finish by Friday, Nov 21. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ On National Memory Screening Day, TTUHSC and Texas Tech offered free memory screenings for Panhandle residents on Nov. 14 until 1 p.m. Local leaders like Mayor Cole Stanley and Dean Brian Weis attended while guest speaker Adrienne Johnson urged using a whiteboard for daily tasks—she said that simple routines can ease memory concerns—and organizers said a monthly memory clinic is planned to support caregivers and aging adults.
