- ➤ Amarillo small businesses will join in Small Business Saturday on November 29, offering special deals and holiday gifts for local shoppers. Local stores and restaurants are set to welcome residents who support our local economy (with several new openings this year). 96.9 KISS FM
- ➤ Maxwell’s Amarillo Lights returns for its sixth season as Maxwell’s Pumpkin Farm transforms into a glowing wonderland with over one million lights, a 30-foot tree with 20,000 bulbs and a 50-foot pixel tree featuring a giant star—families will enjoy a free Santa visit at 6 p.m. every night along with a Christmas hayride and over 20 holiday activities; the event runs today through December 23 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. 96.9 KISS FM
- ➤ Citychurch Amarillo will provide emergency food boxes, winter apparel, and Christmas gifts for more than 1,500 children in need until Dec 31—expecting over 250 volunteers—and will host two banquets on Dec 10 and Dec 11 at 205 S. Polk St. NewsChannel 10
- ➤ Amarillo will host the Center City Electric Light Parade on December 5 at 6 p.m. with cowboy-themed floats and a Santa visit at the Civic Center; Canyon will hold its Christmas celebration starting at 6:30 p.m.—its parade will travel from the First United Methodist Church to Canyon Square and end with a courthouse square tree lighting. 96.9 KISS FM
- ➤ Area nonprofits launched the Bikes for Kids campaign in June to collect up to 400 new bicycles for foster children and have raised nearly $19,000 to purchase the remaining bikes—partners are working with Toys for Tots to ensure each child gets the right size. The bicycles will be handed out on Dec. 19 during the Bikes for Kids Christmas Dinner at Cactus Cove from 6 to 8 p.m. NewsChannel 10
- ➤ Sky Patterson hosted a Thanksgiving feast in Amarillo with volunteers cooking traditional dishes—collard greens, candied yams, mac and cheese, and turkey—to help those in need. She started the event last year to ease holiday loneliness and said she looks forward to expanding it next year. ABC 7 Amarillo
- ➤ High Plains Food Bank reported a spike in food insecurities in the Panhandle even before SNAP benefit delays and donation shortfalls emerged during the government shutdown—Executive Director Zack Wilson said emergency fundraisers have been held and a Together We Can Food and Fund Drive will begin Dec. 1 to help residents during the holidays. - ➤ Amarillo residents will support local shops this Small Business Saturday, a day after Black Friday, by exploring special deals from coffee roasters to boutiques—helping boost the local economy. NewsTalk 940 AM

- ➤ The city of Canyon entered into a funding agreement with TxDOT for a 15th Street pedestrian project to improve safety along downtown—this project will receive over $2 million in federal funds with a local match of more than $500,000 and is scheduled to start in 2027. NewsChannel 10
