  • A new Amarillo restaurant, Beaux's Blazin' Wiingz, is serving bold wing flavors, Cajun corn ribs, and vegan favorites at 3407 Amarillo Blvd. It operates Wednesday through Sunday from 1 pm to 8 pm, continuing the Feed Me legacy (offering familiar taste for longtime diners).  96.9 KISS FM

  • Amarillo’s Discovery Center released a December schedule of family events that includes Festive Flicks Saturday movie sessions at 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. on Dec. 13, 20, and 27, Discovery Fridays STEAM experiences on Dec. 12, and Discovery Day Camp sessions on select dates + New Year’s activities.  96.9 KISS FM

  • Farmers in the Texas Panhandle received hopeful news after a $12 billion aid package was announced Monday in Washington, D.C. to help offset rising costs ahead of the 2026 crop year, with $11 billion aimed at row crop producers & funds reserved for specialty crops.  ABC 7 Amarillo

  • West Texas A&M’s Center for the Study of the American West will host award-winning author Zak Podmore tomorrow at 6 p.m. in Cornette Library’s atrium to discuss his Bonney MacDonald Award-winning book on Lake Powell and the Colorado River’s future.   • Junior Achievement of High Plains presented Fermi America a Key to the City at Amarillo ISD's AmTech Career Academy yesterday to bolster hands-on educational programs - the sponsorship aims to enrich JA BizTown experiences and help local students explore future career paths.  NewsChannel 10
  • The Amarillo National Weather Service is offering a free online winter-storm spotting class tomorrow, Dec. 11, where residents will learn to identify winter precipitation, measure snow and ice, and review safety tips (virtual attendance only with possible in-person sessions later).  96.9 KISS FM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Amarillo City Council approved a 15-year lease for Wonderland Amusement Park at Thompson Park, granting 360 Parks of Amarillo control over the historic site. The deal, which includes two 15-year renewal options and an initial revenue of over $100,000, is set to close in early January.  NewsChannel 10
  • The City of Amarillo and Atmos Energy began a gas main replacement project yesterday, Dec. 9, closing lanes on Georgia, Austin and Laurel Streets with work expected to continue through January while the Solid Waste Department relocates dumpsters in nearby alleys.  NewsChannel 10
  • Texas DPS reminds Amarillo drivers to obey the Move Over Law during National Crash Responder Safety Week — they must shift lanes or slow 20 mph below the posted speed limit when flashing lights from police, fire, EMS, or maintenance vehicles appear.  NewsTalk 940 AM
  • The Amarillo VA Health Care System housed 171 veterans in 2025—part of the VA’s effort to permanently house 51,936 unhoused veterans nationwide, which is over 4,000 more than last year—as detailed in the latest VA report.  Amarillo Tribune
