- ➤ Amarillo Globe-News announced 10 Citizens on the Move winners — Brian Bailey, Andrew Mitchell, Chandra Perkins, Brandy Sanchez and Zack Wilson — who will be honored at an in-person luncheon in January; the 2025 Headliners will be named Jan. 1, 2026. Amarillo Globe-News
- ➤ The Amarillo SPCA will offer pet pictures with Santa this weekend at Pet Supplies Plus (5807 S.W. 45th Ave., Suite 220) to raise funds for the shelter; guests pay $10 for a 5x7 print or a phone photo. NewsChannel 10
- ➤ Amarillo will hold its 12‐hour PIT Count on Jan. 23 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. The city seeks volunteers and donations to provide care packages at Simms Building at 808 S. Buchanan until Jan. 21 — the event, organized with Coming Home, supports people experiencing homelessness. Amarillo Globe-News

- ➤ Museum staff dismantled the oil derrick on the WT campus after the Panhandle-Plains Historical Society ended nearly 100 years of partnership over funding cuts (a 1932 agreement gives it control of its collection). The society has not yet announced a future home for its artifacts. ABC 7 Amarillo

- ➤ Several Amarillo schools will get new cafeteria serving lines today with upgrades funded at $4.5M. Culinary Depot was chosen and local installers will modernize outdated gas-operated systems for 34 campuses + meet USDA and TDA standards. Amarillo Globe-News
- ➤ Amarillo College student Alexia Layton overcame a challenging past while earning an associate’s degree in early childhood development and working eight years at Opportunity School. Layton will speak at commencement on Dec. 19 (she hopes her journey inspires others to pursue education). NewsChannel 10

- ➤ The Randall County Sheriff's Office offers safe package delivery to protect holiday packages, letting residents mail items to the office during open hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with off-hour pickup by call). Photo ID is required to collect packages. ABC 7 Amarillo
- ➤ City Council reviewed a plan on Tuesday to repurpose 30 acres of John Stiff Memorial Park for restaurants, retail & private investments using the park’s existing amenities. Officials directed the proposal back to consultants for further review. NewsChannel 10
