  • Candy Cane Lane will host a Christmas Eve event—families are invited to enjoy a simple retelling of Jesus’ birth and sing carols—at 6 p.m., Dec. 24 at 7114 Gainsborough. Santa Chrys organized the gathering after strong community feedback.  96.9 KISS FM
  • An Amarillo family donated $100K to build the Texas Panhandle First Responders Memorial honoring local police, fire, and EMS heroes; the gift, made in honor of Mrs. Hodge’s late husband, will lead to construction at 11th and Polk (to recognize ongoing service).  96.9 KISS FM

BUSINESS NEWS

  • House Divided (located at 7609 Hillside Road) will close its doors for the final time on Sunday, Dec. 21 as it prepares for a new concept. The restaurant thanks the community for years of support and invites locals to visit one last time.  NewsTalk 940 AM

CULTURE NEWS

  • Tickets are on sale for the Happy Holiday Pops concerts that will take place at the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts on Dec. 19 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 20 at 2 p.m. + 7:30 p.m.; Heroes Night on Dec. 19 will offer free entry to veterans and first responders and a chance to take a photo with Santa.  NewsChannel 10
  • Texas music icon Joe Ely died Monday at his Taos home after complications from Lewy Body Dementia, Parkinson's and pneumonia. The influential musician, who was 78, was celebrated for decades of live performances that shaped the local sound from Amarillo to Austin.  Amarillo Globe-News
